I know this is a couple of days late, but I had to get this out here. This a fan made video by Jameel Saleem for Lupe Fiasco's I'm beaming. I like it, I thought it was a nice creative spin on the new track from off of the Lasers album.
These are some nice pieces from the Kaneko Optical for nonnative collection... I definitely love the Black Dweller Glasses at the bottom. As soon as I saw them I thought about the Malcom X movie, these were a smooth style of glasses that were rocked back in the day. It's great to see that so many classic and clean styles are back....

Yesterday W-N-O was sitting back watching Malcom X and it was real moving. The first time I saw this movie I was back in elementary school and I don't think I could fully appreciate it back then. However now that I'm older I can really appreciate the messages that this movie delivered. Just sitting back and watching this movie yesterday made me realize that this might have been one of Spike Lee's best movies. With that being said here are some clips from the movie that really stand out. Enjoy!
Why Are You Single???
If someone asks you "why are you with him/her?" and you genuinely love (or even like) the person you typically have an answer. Your answer may allude to the way this certain someone makes you feel, the special space they occupy in your heart and life, or any number of reasons. Whatever your reason may be, it typically only takes a few seconds to come to you even if you never tried to articulate it before. But what do you say when someone asks "why are you single?" And I'm not talking about "just got out of an effed up situation" single, just plain ole single. Is there a good or socially acceptable response to the question "Why Are You Single???"

The record-breaking snowstorm we experienced in the Mid-Atlantic region this past week has made a lot of people confront their relationships or the lack there of. I've joked that this storm would leave most couples broken up or pregnant. And God forbid that you've been snowed in all alone because you are prob a horny, lonely basket case by now. Coincidentally, not only is this coming weekend the first time most will get back out in the real world with a chance to cure their cabin fever, it is also Valentine's Day (awwww!).
On a recent group BBM convo, my friends talked about getting out and getting things together for their VDay plans. While it did make me a little warm & fuzzy to hear all the fun & romantic things everyone had planned, I commented "I'm bout to exit this convo bc yall are depressing me." When my friends asked why, I exclaimed "bc I'm SINGLE!!!" Of course I wasn't really depressed but I did feel slightly inadequate for not having anything to contribute to the convo. Anywho, one of my friends asked "why are you single?"... Huh? LOL. So glad we weren't on a video chat because I had the dumbest look on my face. It was an awkward mix of confusion and embarrassment. Seldom am I at a loss for words but I honestly didn't have an answer for that. On one hand, I do want to be in a relationship but on the other I am an extreme introvert who enjoys being alone (and please be mindful that there is a big difference between alone and lonely).
Even now as I write it, I'm not sure if my answer to "why are you single?" is sufficient; its not definite, too ambiguous. This is not the answer I gave my friends, I just told them what was the most honest and immediate response which is that I can't explain my singleness. I understand my friend's question was mostly rhetorical but it still leaves me wondering really, why am I single???
Oh well. **kanyeshrug** Let's look at it on the bright side. If I was in a happy, committed relationship, CallMeKarrie would cease to exist, LOL. Only single girls have this much fun (and this much free time to blog about it).
Here's some dope art/or furniture to toss up on the wall. I can see this positioned on a nice wall in a downtown loft with some of my latest jackets I've collected for the upcoming spring.... Pick up yours' Here!
One of our favorite brands is back for the spring with a new lookbook. Check out some of the new pieces from Spring 2010 Lookbook for Mishka here

I know this is a little, but this is one of my favorite Nike commercials besides the Nike Puppets...
Here's a nice one for all the soft skins by U-N-I. I heard this over on Nah Right. The new track is called Lately. It's a real smooth mix, something nice to have on that CD you've made when your trying to get in the mood with a young lady, but you still don't want to be too R&B... Listen Here!
Just felt like taking back down this road for today. Enjoy!
This just might be my new favorite mixtape.... for now anyways! I definitely dig the different genre's of music they placed on this mixtape. All of the songs complimented each other well I have to say! It's definitely great music to play while getting motivated and blocking out the rest of the world while you figure out How to make it in America! Click here to listen and download. Enjoy!
Man I really love Krush Groove, I remember every time my cousin came to visit she always wanted to watch this movie! I wasn't mad though, I always made her watch the Last Dragon for every time she made me sit through Krush Groove, I guess you can call it even. However after watching it on TV One tonight I couldn't help but think about the pioneers of Hip-Hop that were featured in this movie... Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Sheila E, The Beastie Boys, Rick Rubin, LL Cool J. Man it really made me wish that Hip-Hop could see glory days like this again! I hope you enjoy this video! I can honestly say this movie was a part of my upbringing. If you don't know about it, go add this to your collection ASAP!
I've been hearing a lot about HBO's new show How to Make It in America, and I have to say that after checking out the first episode I'm excited to see more. For anybody that has ever had a dream of becoming successful, this is your favorite new show. Check out the first episode above! To find out more about the show click here.
I don't even have to say much about this one... Another great ad from Nike! "They gone need some hand sanitizer after this"...Hilarious! Enjoy!
Somethings just fit. This is one of those things.
Check it out @ Oliver Bonas
Here's a new track by Donwill from Tanya Morgan. If you remember we introduced you to Tanya Morgan a while ago and we're glad to see some new music from their camp. This track has a nice vibe that I really dig, it opens with nice energy then slows down to a nice R&B groove reminds me of a Tone, Toni, Tony or Foreign Exchange track.

Every Lady needs great accessories and as often as they carry their keys around you would think the Key-Chain would be included as an important accessory. However key-chains are often over looked. Here are a few that we ran across that can always add a little bit of style to your life.
Lately I've been looking for bookcases because my book collection is starting to become uncontrollable... However while trying to find some out of the box ideas for the crib I ran across these great pieces by .nobody&co. I love the concept of the chair. It's both creative and practical and will definitely look great in a nice quite corner of the house. The bookcase featured in the other picture is also a dope alternative to your regular shelved bookcase.
Look like Nike is dropping some nice footwear to go along with this summer's World Cup Games. This orange and grey colorway is supposed to be inspired by the Holland soccer team. Look out for more fresh AM1's this upcoming spring and summer in preparation for the World Cup, but in the mean while grab a pair over at Livestock.
Adidas just drop some nice heat that are gonna look great on the feet this coming spring! The Artillery Mid's look great with in the white, orange, and blue color way! They also thought about the women with the Trefoil's... I definitely dig the high action on the back of the sneaker. These will definitely be a show stopper for any lady that rocks these this spring!
I had to take it back to when times where good and we didn't have a care in the world. If you don't have these two songs somewhere on your iPod, you need 2 go add them to the library quick! Take a trip back to the 90's with Nas and Mary J. Enjoy!
So after viewing the Dock Ellis video we did some research on James Blagden and we ran across his website. As you can see James has some dope work within his portfolio that has been featured in many magazines and ad campaigns. One of my favorites is featured above, all of the sneaker lovers should remember this from the Nike "Be True to Your School" campaign they commissioned for the Nike Dunks. Enjoy some of his other work that he created for Nylon and Nylon Guys.
I know this a little late, but I ran across this video on The Brilliance a blog by a dope artist, Chuck Anderson of NoPattern. This is a pretty dope illustration that depicts how Dock Ellis threw a no hitter in 1970 against the San Diego Padres! The video was made by James Blagedon for No Mas NYC. The video was actually created to Dock Ellis' own account of we happened. Check it out.
