Without Len Bias - ESPN 30 for 30

Posted by WNO |

ESPN recently showed a documentary a few weeks ago about the death of Len Bias. I'm sure a lot of people know the story of his unfortunate passing, but if you don't this is a great documentary to see. I always heard rappers make illusions to Len Bias, whether it be about his game or his OD, but the documentary really gives you insight on how his death impacted so much in the 80's i.e.: the downfall of UMD's basketball, but probably more importantly laws that were created off of crack! However you really have to see this documentary to really appreciate where I'm coming from. To look at the upcoming schedule and various clips click here.

More Nike Heat for the Spring - AirMax 1's

Posted by WNO |

Nike just got real ignorant on the shoe game for the spring... I'm literally burning bread trying to keep up with all of these must have releases that have been coming out lately. I have to say these new AirMax's are great. I need a nice connect in Amsterdam to pick up these Parra x Patta AM 1's. Not to out do the ladies Nike is also releasing these fresh AM 1's with nice seafoam green, yellow and orange blending so well together.. Honestly I'm not gonna lie, I'd def cop those for a random day in the summer. Either way these are collection killers that definitely need to be purchased.

Lupe Fiasco's I'm Beaming - Fan Video

Posted by WNO |

I know this is a couple of days late, but I had to get this out here. This a fan made video by Jameel Saleem for Lupe Fiasco's I'm beaming. I like it, I thought it was a nice creative spin on the new track from off of the Lasers album.

These are some nice pieces from the Kaneko Optical for nonnative collection... I definitely love the Black Dweller Glasses at the bottom. As soon as I saw them I thought about the Malcom X movie, these were a smooth style of glasses that were rocked back in the day. It's great to see that so many classic and clean styles are back....

I Am Malcom X

Posted by WNO |

Yesterday W-N-O was sitting back watching Malcom X and it was real moving. The first time I saw this movie I was back in elementary school and I don't think I could fully appreciate it back then. However now that I'm older I can really appreciate the messages that this movie delivered. Just sitting back and watching this movie yesterday made me realize that this might have been one of Spike Lee's best movies. With that being said here are some clips from the movie that really stand out. Enjoy!

Why are You Single???

Posted by WNO |

Why Are You Single???

If someone asks you "why are you with him/her?" and you genuinely love (or even like) the person you typically have an answer. Your answer may allude to the way this certain someone makes you feel, the special space they occupy in your heart and life, or any number of reasons. Whatever your reason may be, it typically only takes a few seconds to come to you even if you never tried to articulate it before. But what do you say when someone asks "why are you single?" And I'm not talking about "just got out of an effed up situation" single, just plain ole single. Is there a good or socially acceptable response to the question "Why Are You Single???"

The record-breaking snowstorm we experienced in the Mid-Atlantic region this past week has made a lot of people confront their relationships or the lack there of. I've joked that this storm would leave most couples broken up or pregnant. And God forbid that you've been snowed in all alone because you are prob a horny, lonely basket case by now. Coincidentally, not only is this coming weekend the first time most will get back out in the real world with a chance to cure their cabin fever, it is also Valentine's Day (awwww!).

On a recent group BBM convo, my friends talked about getting out and getting things together for their VDay plans. While it did make me a little warm & fuzzy to hear all the fun & romantic things everyone had planned, I commented "I'm bout to exit this convo bc yall are depressing me." When my friends asked why, I exclaimed "bc I'm SINGLE!!!" Of course I wasn't really depressed but I did feel slightly inadequate for not having anything to contribute to the convo. Anywho, one of my friends asked "why are you single?"... Huh? LOL. So glad we weren't on a video chat because I had the dumbest look on my face. It was an awkward mix of confusion and embarrassment. Seldom am I at a loss for words but I honestly didn't have an answer for that. On one hand, I do want to be in a relationship but on the other I am an extreme introvert who enjoys being alone (and please be mindful that there is a big difference between alone and lonely).

Even now as I write it, I'm not sure if my answer to "why are you single?" is sufficient; its not definite, too ambiguous. This is not the answer I gave my friends, I just told them what was the most honest and immediate response which is that I can't explain my singleness. I understand my friend's question was mostly rhetorical but it still leaves me wondering really, why am I single???

Oh well. **kanyeshrug** Let's look at it on the bright side. If I was in a happy, committed relationship, CallMeKarrie would cease to exist, LOL. Only single girls have this much fun (and this much free time to blog about it).
